From Getting Help to Giving

Jeremy had been terminated from his employment and on EI when he registered with WorkBC Nanaimo. Seven years before, he had successfully found work through WorkBC, so he didn’t hesitate to enlist our help.

Jeremy found help in a variety of ways, including working with his employment services advisor, attending seminars, using the job boards, going to employer forums, and accessing supports such as gas, a parking pass to attend seminars, and the International Creditation Evaluation seminar.

His work with his employment advisor led Jeremy to take a 5-week course as a community support worker. He is now employed with the Nanaimo Association for Community Living and a member of the union. Jeremy was hired on as casual, but was soon offered the opportunity to work temporary full-time for two months. “I am loving it!” Jeremy says, “It’s certainly the right fit for me.”

Jeremy is grateful for the help provided by GT Hiring Solutions and WorkBC. “Thank you to Sheilagh and the GT Hiring (Solutions) team Nanaimo,” he says. “Sheilagh was very helpful, always encouraging and wanting to help. It was appreciated.”
