Fall is coming and for WorkBC Employment Services Centres, that means Job Fairs with local employers.
Our Burnaby Employment Centres are hosting over 35 great employers who are hiring now for all kinds of jobs. Employers like the BC Corrections, City of Burnaby, Delta Hotels, Golden Boy, London Drugs, Home Depot, the Provincial Health Services Authority, TD Bank and Translink will be there. There are lots of jobs in food services as well, with several well-known restaurants who want to hire.
But you need to come prepared. The first few moments of your conversation with an employer could affect whether or not you get the job. We recommend making an appointment with one of our Employer Services Advisors beforehand (it’s free!). Our trained staff will review your resume, your goals and the way you approach the employers to help you ensure your job fair experience is the best possible. Many of our clients get jobs on the spot – and we’d love it to be you!
If you don’t see an advisor before September 14, we recommend that on Job Fair Day, you:
- Come to one of our Job Fair preparation workshops (September 12 & 13 at our Brentwood WorkBC Centre, September 13 at our Metrotown WorkBC Centre)
- Bring your resume
- Dress nicely for an interview
- Be prepared to say who you are, what your top skills are and why you want to work for that employer – in three or less sentences.
